Windows 7 nvlddmkm problem?
I’m wondering if any of you have problems in windows 7 about the nvlddmkm error? Please post in the comment below. I for one have not had any errors in windows 7 so it seems like it is fixed?

Hi,
I am using Windows 7 Prof. x64 for two months and now I get this problem since last week.
My system: ASUS A8V-SE, AMD 64 X2 3800+, Geforce 7800GTX, 4x 512MB DDR.

I’ve had my system for 2.5 years now and I’m getting this error just the same in Windows 7 as i was in Vista.
Specs: Foxconn N68S7AA-8EKRS2H, Intel e6600, PNY GeForce 8800GTXOC, 2×2GB OCZ Plantinum
I’ve done everything on this site and just changed out the stock cooler with the Thermaltake DuOrb and I’m still getting this problem.

I have Windows 7 Pro x64.
I have gotten this error while playing fullscreen 3D apps since I installed it in October. So far nothing has quelled this beast.

Also using Windows 7 Pro with a hardware setup pretty similar to Kint4r0’s: Asus A8N-SLI Premium, AMD 64 X2 3800+, Geforce 7800GTX, 2 x 1GB DDR.
I get the error while playing H.264 videos with the Windows decoder. Happens randomly, sometimes i can watch ‘em for hours and nothing happens, sometimes just seconds after i hit play. Screen goes black, audio keeps playing for a while, after 10 to 30 seconds a BSOD comes up, memory dump happens, PC reboots.
H.264 stuff plays just fine with other decoders (VLC player).

I would kindly like your input on whether I should switch over now or wait. I am probably going to purchase/build a new computer for Christmasl. YEEEAAAAH!
Is the NVLDDMKM.SYS thing showing up on 7 as much as Vista. I have heard that XP is much more stable for Nvidia cards than Vista.

it seems as if windows 7 has the same problem.
i would suggest get your video card RMA’ed if you are still having problems.

My cards really old…I think it might be overheating….OR some of those defective 8800 GTX’s

Bought a brand new machine:
Intel® Core™ i7-920 , NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285
Asus P6T Deluxe V2, 6.144 MB RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate Edition 64-Bit
Since I have the machine, 2 weeks now, I get BSOD every 2 hours or so. First time it was just clicking around in Explorer. PLOP! 2nd and 3rd time was starting WinDVD2010 with inserted DVD. After that I got the latest NVidia-Driver Nov. 09. Crashes with DVD stopped! Next day, however, just clicking a .jpg PLOP! Copying files between 2 USB-Shares…you guess it?! Right: PLOP in the middle of the copying process.
I’m upset.
WIN7-Event Manager states 6008 or 1001. Win-Debugger suggests “nvlddmkm.sys” to be the cause.
Have no clue how to cure that sh**t.

I would definitely suggest getting it repaired by the manufacturer, it’s most likely a defective video card.

Hi all
I feel your pain after getting win 7 64bit pro doing all the right things up to date drivers ect ect i had crashes eg mouse icon freezing black screans full locks. Checked my error log to fin thousands of nvlddmkm error.
After days of trying fixes of all types driver rollback the lot i used driver cleaner selected everything nvidia and cleaned then uninstalled all nvidia programs and did registry clean.
When i rebooted my comp i let windows install the device which installed latest 195.62 beta driver and i havent had any problems yet. Ran 3DMark for 4 hours last night no crash.
I did have that driver in my download folder but i manually installed not even hour or so started to get error in log.
I dont know if it will work for all as i tried for days to fix this even doing full wipe and reinstall of win 7.
Illl let u know if errors return.

The best experience I made with “Nvidia GeForce 195.81 Beta driver” so far.
After a clean uninstall of all former crap, of course.
But as this did not solve all my problems I returned my new computer to the vendor and’ll let you know the outcome of the inspection asap. They assume, it’s a hardware issue, but as they told me in a mail, not necessarily the graphics card.

I have this problem since upgrading from Vista to W7 64bit…
Geforce 9800GTX, latest drivers (including beta) used.
I have this problem only (but consistent) when I ask for a print preview…. (on the printer level)

Problem persists on Windows 7 (Ultimate, 64-Bit, fresh installation). Tried many WHQL and BETA versions of the drivers. Switching from 195.xx to 191 has improved the situation reducing the crash frequency. ManuelG from nVidia forums proposed to use 186.18 which I tried with success yesterday. System is now much more stable when using Aero/W7 Media Center/ProgDVB.

Problem suddenly appeared in my previously-stable win7 box immediately after “upgrading” my video drivers.
I have a Quadro FX 1700 and I do NOT use this for gaming. I need to do some testing, as this was just a day or 2 ago I had issues.
The problem first manifested itself when I tried to add the VBox Guest additions into an XP VM. The driver recovered OK, and all was OK. I had been running the GPU2 FAH client at the time.
The problem seemed to reoccur periodically.
What prompted me to post was the final indignation, a BSOD. This, as far as I could tell, was a side effect of disconnecting from my machine from LogMeIn Pro2, which has display drivers that have never caused any issues, but started acting up with the new nvidia drivers.
I guessed this could be the problem, mainly because only after the new drivers, whenever I connected with LMIP2, my primary display resolution would drop from 1280×1024 to 640×480 wich was a real headache. Turning it up manually worked.

Scratch that last remark about LogMeIn Pro2. I do not think it was that cause, because while logged on via LMIP2, I started a video encode, which kept going and finished successfully about an hour after I disconnected, which rules out the LMIP2 video mirror driver. It is still unusual that it will switch to 640X480 every time I connect with LMIP2 though. Also, I am running the x64 edition of Win7.

I had this problem on Vista, out of seemingly nowhere. I formatted and installed Win7, the problem persisted. After spending around 18 hours trying to fix it, I simply loaded the “fail safe” BIOS settings. Suddenly, it worked perfectly. Then I loaded the “optimized defaults”, and still it works perfectly.
I guess my BIOS just needed to be reset? But I hadn’t changed anything in there recently. How does this make sense? Perhaps it was actually something else I did, but I don’t know.

I had the same problem for months.
(i7 920,asus engtx 285, win7-64b…)
I tryed everything and at last I fix it. When I try to install other version of drivers I install the NVIDIA drivers. But when I installed the drivers downloaded from ASUS page (191.07 is the latest version) then the problem fix. Also I think I get better performance too.

I’ve narrowed it down to the GPU2 FAH client, but even buggy code shouldn’t totally crash the driver. I would like to keep running the client but I guess I can’t if it is going to cause issues.

My Saga:
Basicially I built this comp to game my ass off in December of 08, and everything thing worked like a dream. I should mention at this time I was only using one EVGA Geforce GTX 260, and using Vista Home Edition. So as time passed I was curious to try SLI I bought a second card in August of 09, and that is where my troubles began. Every game I ran in SLI, from World of Warcraft to Dragon Age: Orgins, would give me the dreaded nvlddmkm error message, or worse my system would freeze. I tried every recomended fix that google could throw at me except changing out the psu or resort to a rma of the video cards. I tested my memory, my hard drives, turning off aero, changing power settings for sleep mode, I upgraded to windows 7 64bit Professional, installed the latest Nvidia drivers, ect. After all this I still got the error/lockups.
So anyways I noticed while in the nvidia control panel when checking my cards specs I saw that the bios were different for each cards. The one I bought in August09 had I newer bios. My first gtx 260 card, the one I bought in Dec08, was in the first pci-e, and the new card I bought in aug09 was in the second pci-e, so after trying almost everything I could think of I said, ”fuck it” and switched the two cards around. The Aug09 card in the first pic-e slot and the Dec08 card in the second pci-e slot. I also switched up power connectors for each card just for what the hell purposes, and prayed to the tech gods in the sky.
So far with aero turned off I have not recieved an error when gaming. With aero turned on I do recieve the error, but I have yet to recieve a computer lockup/freeze(Which would happen 90% of the time). Sleep mode seems to cause problems still, but I just turned it off. I hope this rant helps someone.
tl;dr:
If running SLI try switching your video cards around, switch up power connectors for your cards, and turn off aero.

guys, i dont know how to suggest my solution but here i goes. i fixed the problem by opening up the side of my computer and pointing a fan directly toward the inside. it seems as if my computer/gpu was getting overheated. if you guys have any success with this let me know. alexownzyou @ gmail

Damn, I was just going to buy Windows 7.
Well, this problem is really sad, I used to game a lot and I recently bough Battlefield Bad Company 2 and this bug is happening all the time (it makes it unable to play BFBC2 at all, because the bug happens every 5:th minute.
It’s not only BBC2, it’s also all other games (Garry’s mod, Left 4 Dead 2, CSS, Half Life 2, Crysis, All games. So I’m having loads of problems since December last year. I have left my computer in the store I bough it, but even they didn’t got any idea of the problem.
I’m thinking about if it could be the RAM-memory, but the store said that it was fine. Could it maybe be the screen that is fucked up?
Well, if anyone got any tip or advice, please share it (Or I soon get a Mac).
Please, any ideas? Any fix?
