Solution 9: Remove PCI cards
I’ve been trying things with my computer since this error won’t go away. I have a FusionHDTV 5 PCI HDTV tuner and a Pinnacle PCI HDTV tuner. I’ve removed both and the error has stopped so far. So try removing all of your PCI cards and see if the error stops. Then add the PCI cards one by one back. If the error comes back, then you’ll know which PCI card is bad.

The only PCI slot i use is for my Video card, so removing that would kinda defeat the purpose, cause if i run off onboard graphics, I wont be executing intense graphics games anyway.
But still would like to know if anybody who doesnt play graphiclly intense games benefits from this.
On a side note: I have just recieved today, 3 more fans, and a pci slot fan for under my video card. Also another 2 sticks of RAM to swap out. I will report back with any success or failure. Fingers crossed.

This is retarded, having another card right below your GPU causes heat to build up which causes the nvlddmkm error.

First MAJOR thanks for creating this website. Very helpful. Had this problem for about 4 months. Tried everything. The hotfix kinda worked but totally removed the smooth flow of MCE. All of the latest drivers from nvidia (180s) just made the problem worse. Couldn’t even get into Windows without safe mode. Expanding the .sys didn’t work for me either. Went to Best Buy and the guy tried to sell me a new computer. Anyway finally swapped a video card from my old computer, RADEON X600 and so far for the past week no problems. Microsoft or Nvidia needs to fix this as it is unbelievably inefficient.

Hi Velz201:
Just a note, ATI users experience the same problem, they receive the “ATIKMDAG stopped responding and has recovered” error. So both ATI and nVidia, and as well as Microsoft need to look into this.

well i would say the primary suspect is the PSU not giving enough power. Try borrowing a PSU from someone.
